PRICE INCREASE AUDIT

Audit the price and the pack before accepting an update.

A listed price can stay unchanged while the quantity in the pack moves. Compare both fields before deciding whether the underlying unit cost increased or decreased.

Calculate on a consistent basis

When both lists use the same base unit, divide the listed price by the mapped pack quantity. Then compare the previous and updated unit costs. Do not combine kilograms with units, or tax-inclusive with tax-exclusive prices, without an explicit conversion outside this workflow.

Flag every pack change

A calculated movement is not enough. Keep the previous and updated pack quantities visible and flag the row so a person confirms that the base unit remains comparable.

Review exceptions before acting

Duplicate product codes, blank identifiers and invalid prices should block an automatic conclusion for those rows. A smaller, reviewable exception queue is safer than silently forcing every row into a match.

Keep the supplier evidence

Retain file, worksheet and row references with the calculated movement. The result is then a checkable review record rather than an unexplained percentage in another spreadsheet.

Turn the review into a decision-ready exception set

If the immediate task is checking a supplier invoice before approval, PriceTern's assisted pilot compares one invoice with one agreed price list or purchase order and returns a human-checked summary, evidence CSV and exception notes. The published pilot scope is A$149 including GST, with no subscription, and payment is requested only after file suitability is confirmed.
